Religious Studies
The intent of the Religious Studies curriculum at Kings Priory School is to provide children with an informed view of world religions which is sensitive to others. Underpinning the design of the curriculum are the schools key values of respect, tolerance and friendship. These key values are supported by the core skills of the school; reasonsing, problem solving and reading. Our Religious Studies programme aims to: *Engage pupils with knowledge, theological discussion and personal reflection, so as to promote their personal, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. *Develop an understanding of Christianity and other principal religious traditions and beliefs represented in our locality, Great Britain and across the world. *Promote how beliefs influence behaviour, practices and outlook. This will take place as studies of an individual religion, but also through comparing and contrasting multiple religions. *Allow learners to become aware of their own beliefs and values and to have a positive attitude to the search of purpose and meaning in life. *Encourage learners to develop a positive attitude towards other people who hold religious views that differ from their own.
