Geography
The intent of the Geography Curriculum at Kings Priory School is to provide pupils with an informed world view whilst also meeting the requirements of the national examinations. Underpinning the design of the curriculum are the schools key values of tolerance, respect and friendship. These key values are supported by the core skills of the school; communication, problem solving and reading. At KS3 the intent is to build upon the foundations built in KS1 and KS2, with the embedding of key skills and the broadening of subject knowledge to ensure that children are able to make informed choices at GCSE. The coverage of the KS4 curriculum in geography allows pupils to acquire an understanding of a broad range of both physical and human processes and their interactions. Within KS5 the intent is to widen the pupils’ understanding of the world by looking in greater depth at familiar topics whilst also broadening their knowledge and understanding of more complex geographical processes and interconnections. Pupils should also have the opportunity to become active 'geographers' and complete an independent enquiry which will be invaluable in their future studies.
