In English Language, pupils are challenged and supported through well-sequenced and purposeful schemes of work, exposing them to diverse and thought-provoking material. By including a broad range of texts, the sequencing allows pupils to appreciate the talents of classic writers as well as more contemporary authors, creating a captivating and inspired learning experience for our pupils. Through themed units, creating cross-curricular links to English Literature, pupils learn to develop skills in spoken language, reading and writing. This enables pupils to make connections between the skills, knowledge and themes used in both language and literature, as well as recognising how content is sequenced between each phase.
All pupils at KPS will possess the ability to structure their writing securely, whilst aiming to find their own writing style and voice.
Immersion into a world of high quality texts, helps instil a lifelong love of reading, the ability to access the wider curriculum and give them the confidence to explore their imagination and creativity.
